Year 7's and 12's First Day
Wrap up and photos
Monday 30th January saw the big kids and the little kids have full run of the college with a fabulous day of activities for both groups and they got together for a soccer match at recess and then again for a Smoking Ceremony, performed by Daniel Hume from the Bunurong Land Council Aboriginal Corporation, during which Principal Karl Russell, spoke to the Year 7s and 12s about the beginning and the end of the students' secondary college journey and the symbolism of the Smoking Ceremony and how it was relevant to them. Daniel explained the meaning of a Smoking Ceremony and how they are traditionally performed by Indigenous people for weddings, funerals and births, and its purpose is for healing and cleansing.
After the Smoking Ceremony, the students gathered in the courtyard where the Year 12s presented the Year 7s with a welcome pack (photos under Junior School page) and got some great photos at the photo booth.
We hope the students' first day and last first day of secondary school was a memorable one!
