College Principal Report

Reflecting on 2022

Welcome to our final newsletter for 2022!. This year has been another successful year in the life of Keysborough College even though this year has bought many new challenges. We have seen the return of many examples of the academic, sporting and cultural successes experienced by our students and I congratulate all of them.  The camps, excursions, performing arts events, academic and sporting competitions and involvement in social awareness projects, all provided Keysborough College students ways to develop as people, as citizens and as learners.

Throughout all of these activities that our students have been involved in one of the things that makes me proud as Principal of this school is that they have consistently demonstrated our values of Respect, Excellence and Diversity in all of their interactions with each other and with members of our community.

An important change for 2023

As of the first day for students in 2023 - Tuesday 31st January - each Tuesday the school day for students will be shortened by 30 minutes with students finishing at 2:50pm.. This will occur on Tuesdays only - all other school days stay as normal.

The General Offices will continue to be open until 4:00pm as usual and all teaching staff will be on site until 4:50pm. This change is to allow teaching staff more time for Professional Learning and to meet in College Learning Area Teams.

Recognising our student leaders

My thanks go to all students who have held leadership positions this year. It is important that we recognise the efforts of Lydia McCracken-Matthews and Jimmy Webster the Acacia Campus Captains and Michelle Seng and Sithisak Sereibott the Banksia Campus Captains. Our Student Leaders have continued to create a positive influence contributing to the strength of the Keysborough College culture.  I am very proud of their involvement and they should be commended for their strong leadership skills which ultimately enhance the development and progress of the college.

While talking about student leaders it is important that I mention Kiara Pal (Banksia) and Aminah El- Omari (Acacia) our elected student members of our College Council. Both students were in Year 12 this year and we enjoyed hearing their voices as they represented all of our students throughout the year

Thanks to many others

I would like to acknowledge the hard work and support I have received from the Principal Class team – the Campus Principals Natalie Fode and Richard Hastings and the Assistant Principals Robyn Hughes, Jono Boyd, Melissa Williams, Matthew Sloan and Erin Rabot. Their dedication to the school and the contribution they make every day has been significant in making this such a successful school. My thanks also go to the Leadership Team and to College Council for all the work they have done in help setting the direction for the College throughout 2022 under the leadership of our Council President Lee-Anne Theodorou

Finally my thanks go to the staff – both teaching and non-teaching – for all their work this year, to the students for making this such a good community to be part of, and to the parents for their support of the students and of Keysborough College.

Best wishes for the festive season

I would like to wish all our students, their families and our staff a safe and peaceful end of year break and we look forward to seeing you in 2023.
