This term has seen 6 students from KSC commencing their School Based Apprenticeships (SBAT’s) as part of their HEADSTART Pathway.

 

Taylor Kloth – Year 11, Banksia Campus studying Certificate III in Carpentry, working with Big Tom’s Construction

Taylor is currently in Year 11 VCAL at Banksia Campus and was completing his VETDSS Cert II in Building and Construction. He completed a workplace trial with Tom at Big Tom’s Constructions as part of his structured work placement. The employer was extremely happy with Taylor's reliability and work ethic and offered him a contract of employment. Taylor will study his Certificate III in Carpentry with Chisholm TAFE while working 2 days per week. Congratulation Taylor this is a wonderful start on your journey to becoming a qualified carpenter.

 

Ali Alwan – Year 11, Acacia Campus studying Certificate III in Heavy Vehicle Mechanical with Prestige Hino

Ali’s passion has always been to work within the automotive industry with a special interest in trucks and heavy vehicles. He was previously completing his work placement with Quick Oil, Springvale learning to service cars. He applied for the HEADSTART program as he wanted to learn more about the heavy vehicle industry. Ali attended an interview with Prestige Hino late term 3, his passion, drive and ambition secured him a School Based Apprenticeship with this very prestigious company. Ali will study his Certificate III in Heavy Vehicle Mechanics with Kangan TAFE. Well done Ali on making dreams come true!

 

Fame ( Ashley) Magnaye – Year 12, Banksia Campus studying Certificate III in Business Administration working with Swan Plumbing

Ashley has been working towards completing her business traineeship this year and was previously employed in the hospitality industry as her career goal is to move into Events Management. However, her previous employer was unable to support enough hours for her traineeship which may have impacted her ability to finish this qualification. She was able to secure another traineeship through the HEADSTART program with Swan Plumbing which will allow her to complete the business qualification early 2023. This will allow her to still pathway into her chosen career and further study mid year for the Diploma of Events Management. Well done Ashley we wish you luck for the future.

 

William McNess – Year 12, Banksia Campus studying Certificate III in Electrotechnology working with O’Brien Electrical

William has completed his Cert II in Electrotechnology this year and has completed a number of work placements to support this. His latest placement was with O’Brien Electrical, Rowville. William enjoyed the variety of work this employer was able to offer him and took this opportunity to build relationships with co-workers. His maturity, skills and knowledge facilitated an easy transition into full time employment following his graduation from Keysborough SC. Well done Will your commitment and resilience have led to you creating a bright future for yourself!

Jessica Meas– Year 10, Banksia Campus studying Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care working at Springvale Services for Children, Springvale

Jessica applied for the HEADSTART program as she knew her chosen pathway was to become a qualified early educator. This year has seen Jessica take responsibility for her learning and her regular attendance in school which meant she was fully supported by her Year Level Coordinator with her HEADSTART application. Jessica interviewed well at Springvale Services for Children and was delighted to be offered a traineeship with the centre. Jessica will study the Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care and work 2 days per week in 2023. A great outcome Jessica, keep up the good work.

 

Chhay (William) Hok– Year 12, Banksia Campus studying Certificate III in Commercial Cookery working with Cheeky Squire, Frankston

William has been completing his VETDSS Certificate II in Kitchen Operations as part of his Senior VCAL this year. He started his work placement at the Cheeky Squire Restaurant and Bar in Frankston. This is a popular busy place and William did exceptionally well to quickly fit in, follow instructions and proved himself as a valued team member in the kitchen. William supports with the food preparation and presentation of meals. Their Head Chef saw progress in William’s ability to learn and contribute to the team and was happy to offer him a full time apprenticeship as a Commercial Chef following the completion of his Year 12 schooling. Well done William this is a wonderful pathway for you step into as you complete your schooling and transition to full time work.
