Captains' Corner

Kathy-Ann Gugroop and Gabe Loos - College Captains 2023

Welcome back to a brand new year and a warm welcome to the new students, staff and families who have joined our community this year!

On behalf of both Gabe and myself, we look forward to working closely with you and including your input in our discussions! Despite this being a community built on 65 years of great tradition and legacy, taking our roots in 1958 with the establishment of our school by the De La Salle Brothers and then later joined by the Presentation Sisters, we are hoping that 2023 will be a year of change. We hope to increase engagement in current activities and extracurricular activities and potentially set up some new clubs to hone and showcase talents and skills beyond the academic or athletic scopes and employ the use of our new Sr Genevieve Robertson STEM building. We hope to increase our focus (as a community) on mental health and make a monthly engagement that centres around helping one another. We also hope to host more student and teacher activities and games. Through these initiatives, we hope to enhance the experience of the staff and students and create opportunities to develop closer bonds within our community.

I wish you all a brilliant start to the year!

Hello Everyone!

Welcome back to another school year! For the year 7s who have recently joined us, welcome! Welcome to a second home where everyone is welcomed and cared for. This year may seem hard and difficult and you may be worried, don’t worry even I was just like you but over time you’ll meet life long friends, teachers who will support you and you will make so many memories along the way and don’t forget to take risks and go out of your comfort zone.

To my cohort, the Year 12s, we are months away from finishing high school. Make the best out of every opportunity and enjoy all the carnivals as it will be our last. This year will be the hardest year for us all as we are not just individual students but a cohort, we need to be there for one another whether it be academic support or mental support, we need to look out for each other. Our school motto “courage reaches for the stars” is what we need to think about this year, to be able to push ourselves and have courage in what we do to hopefully be able to reach for the stars and fulfill the pathway into the life we want, but that only happens through determination, courage and resilience to the hard times ahead.

Have a great week ahead and make sure to take part in the swimming carnival!
