Deputy Principal - Student Wellbeing

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome all students for 2023. I look forward to working with them through my role as Deputy Principal – Student Wellbeing and getting to know them better as we continue their learning journey.
Communication
This is an opportunity to remind families that we work together to support the children in our care and that the primary people in that are our Learning Mentors and House Leaders. The Learning Mentor is your first point of contact if you have questions regarding school for your child and they will at times contact parents if they have queries. Subject teachers will also provide feedback on student progress at Parent Teacher interviews and at other times throughout the year. Parents may also contact subject teachers in relation to specific learning issues.
Attendance
Any notes regarding early dismissal, late arrivals, absences or extended absences need to go through Learning Mentors who will adjust our system to show attendance. Students leaving early ideally will have a note signed by a parent or guardian that can be presented to their Learning Mentor and then the student can be met by a parent at Reception to be signed out at the appropriate time. I would ask that where possible contacting the school during the day to collect a student be limited.
Student Standards
Students have all received a Planner that includes information regarding our Respect: Rights and Responsibilities (pg14 and 15) expectations and this document is the basis for how students conduct themselves at school and allow for success. Uniform Regulations (pg18 and 19) are also outlined in the Planner and we would ask all families to check and follow these guidelines as they help us maintain the good name of our College if they are supported by all students.
Students may be spoken to by any staff member if these expectations are not being met and it may be that calls are also made home to discuss these concerns and seek to work together to rectify any issues. I would ask that if there are instances where problems with uniform occur that Learning Mentors are notified and measures put in place to find a solution.
I look forward to working with our College Student Leadership group and encourage them to seize the opportunity they have been given to help guide the College and build on the legacy of past student leaders. This is an important role and I thank them for the commitment they have shown to our College by putting themselves forward for these roles.
