Assistant Principal Report

Welcome Back to Term 2

It certainly has been a different start to Term 2, but what has remained the same is the amazing community culture of GRPS. Thank you to all the parents for their empathy, kindness and perseverance in our home learning journey. Messages and conversations with parents have really lifted our teachers and they are very appreciative of your support. During an online staff meeting today, all the teachers lit up when they started talking about the chats they have had with students so far and expressed how much they missed them.

I'm incredibly proud of our teachers and how they have adapted to this digital environment and the knowledge and learning that they are acquiring will no doubt benefit our students when they return to school.

We are united in strengths

We know your days look different, and you're quickly trying to adapt and attend to a wide range of emotions. As you settle into new routines and seek ways to stay emotionally connected to loved ones, lean on your character strengths. These powerful, personal qualities, such as prudence, love, perspective and hope, can guide you through this. It's our mission to show you how.

Check out the Strengths Weekly Plan displayed to the left for some fantastic ideas of how you can incorporate strengths into daily family life.

I would love to hear stories about how families are using and spotting strengths.

Bucket Fillers

The idea behind the Bucket Filler theory is that each interaction with another person is a chance to build wellbeing. The theory developed by Clifton and Rath is that people have an invisible bucket and that by doing something kind for someone,  you not only fill their bucket but your own too!

As you know, students, teachers and parents can nominate bucket fillers. Just because we are not at school, doesn't mean we can't continue to acknowledge kind gestures performed by members of our community.

I would welcome any nominations and would be thrilled to award these in our newsletter and via a video which will be uploaded to our website and facebook page.

Please email nominations to me via Compass.
