"To participate in an occupation day in day out that aims at putting others before you, makes us students feel very valuable and important."

On Friday 30 October we celebrated World Teacher’s Day. It was a great opportunity to thank our teachers for the wonderful work they do. Teaching is a noble profession which helps shape our youth before they go on to create a bright future. Here are some messages of thanks from our students:

To choose a career in teaching shows a dedication to serve others above all. How privileged are we all to have such a great community of teachers that not only share their knowledge but teach us life skills with a bit of banter along the way. I remember fondly every teacher I have ever had and cherish those memories. From all of us to all of you - THANK YOU!

Paul Akle (Year 10)

The passion that every teacher in our community demonstrates is second to none. Their knowledge and engaging lessons make coming to school so enjoyable. To participate in an occupation day in day out that aims at putting others before you, makes us students feel very valuable and important. From all of the students, we are very grateful.

Blake Timillero (Year 10)

Good teachers are the reason why ordinary students dream to do extraordinary things. This rings true here in our community at St Pat’s. We are so lucky to have these teachers who constantly go out of their way to make all things possible. Their guidance and knowledge are second to none, which makes it hard to not remember a teacher that has had you before. From all of us to all of you - THANK YOU!

Michael Bejjani (Year 10)

Recognition for Commitment and Service

Staff from EREA schools around Australia can be nominated each year for their commitment and service to the Touchstones in their community. This year the College nominated three outstanding teachers.

Janine Timillero for Liberating Education because of her advocacy for high potential learners, hands-on mentoring of teachers and her work both in and beyond the school in philosophical education.

Meagan Compton for Inclusive Community because of her collaborative work to integrate Junior School and High School administration practices and her contribution to the EREA Women in Leadership agenda.

Matthew Herro for Justice & Solidarity because of his ongoing leadership in this field, his time spent with our partners in Alice Springs this year and for being a role model for the young men of the College.

Congratulations and thank-you to these three pillars of our community.
