Year 9 Integral Justice and Reflection Day

Last Thursday the Year 9 cohort ventured to the Don Bosco Centre at St Mary’s for its Integral Justice and Reflection Day. We focused on the many ways we can contribute to our environment in a positive way and end the cycle of unsustainable consumption and waste. Over the day we engaged in a series of different activities aimed at increasing our awareness of environmental issues and seeking to make realistic changes in our lives. We did this by splitting into our homerooms and participating in different activities; We learned about issues through various clips, documentaries and discussions, we created a poster about recycling solely using recycled materials, we created a pledge mural to hang in the chapel where we made promises to ourselves about what we can do to help eliminate pollution; lastly, we reflected on special places in our lives and the importance they have on us by sharing part of our own story with our homerooms. Overall, it was a great day for us to learn about our world and to work with each other. Many thanks goes to the homeroom teachers, Mr Kirby and Mr Crino, who organised the day.
