A note from Mr Jackson

Teaching and Learning Changes

To maximise student learning in Term 4, our specialist team is collaborating closely with our classroom teachers to enhance student learning outcomes related to numeracy, literacy as well as health and wellbeing. Ms Sartorel is adding a layer of support by teaching health and wellbeing across the whole school and Ms Bright is linking into classroom literacy programs through performance. Ms Martinussen is using the Children’s Books of the Year in support of student literacy. A special thanks to our teaching teams that have collaborated to target the needs of students as they emerge from home learning. As well as layers of literacy, numeracy and wellbeing support, students continue with daily physical activity and PE lessons.

Afternoon Pickups

A special thanks to families who continue to ensure our pickups happen as quickly and safely as possible. It is a busy time and we are doing our best to minimise congestion. A reminder to families picking up students from gate 6 at the south eastern corner of the school to ensure that young toddlers are supervised closely and care is taken to stand away from the kerb. We want to make sure everyone is safe over the coming weeks.

Photos Are Back On – Wednesday 4 November

We heard this week that our photo day can go ahead. Many of us have booked an appointment at the hairdresser or barber over the coming days. It will be a chance to mark a remarkable year. More information will be made available shortly. Keep brushing those teeth!

Footy Frenzied Out

Thanks to all who stretched out and wore their unused football jumpers and sports uniforms for today’s fun activities. It was a colourful reminder of the importance of physical activity as we emerge from our lockdown. Students played games outside their classrooms and continued their walk around the 'Rosanna Track' that has taken shape through the playground. While there was much puffing and panting happening this week, everyone will finish the week a little fitter and a lot healthier.

Public Holiday Tomorrow

A reminder that tomorrow is a public holiday and there will be no school. The mini break is a chance to recover for some tired students who are rediscovering the routines and rhythms required to attend a full week of school.

Melbourne Cup Day Weekend

Just around the corner is the Melbourne Cup Day Public Holiday on Tuesday 3 November. Monday 2 November will also serve as a Pupil Free Day. The students will return to school as usual on Wednesday 4 November for School Photo Day.

No Assembly this Week

Although there is no assembly this week due to the Public Holiday we look forward to celebrating the Students of the Week at our next assembly on Friday 30 October at 2:40pm. The details are located below.

FINAL Reminder …

2021 Student Class Placement

We will soon put a school structure in place to support teaching and learning for 2021. Teachers will then be able to thoughtfully consider each students’ needs in allocating them to a class. During this decision making process, staff consider a range of factors including social, emotional and academic needs along with creating balanced class groups.

Each year at this time we invite parents to share their thoughts and information which may affect their child’s class placement for the following year. We will work hard to consider all factors presented, although we cannot guarantee that all requests will be accommodated. It is important to note that requests for particular teachers cannot be accepted.

Any parent requests should be made to me in writing by Friday, 23rd October. Any correspondence received after this date cannot be considered.

Students will have an opportunity to nominate 2021 learning partners later in the term. This information will also ensure students are connected into supportive networks.
