Wellbeing

Hello Parents/Carers,

I hope everyone is settling well into term 4! It’s so nice being able to work with all the children face to face and in their classrooms this term.

Last week was Mental Health Week, with World Mental Health Day being on October 10th. Whilst that week has passed, it is still so important to talk about and raise awareness to. 1 in 5 Australians are affected by mental illness annually, yet many still don’t seek help because of the stigma attached to it. 1 in 7 children/adolescents are affected by mental health conditions annually. If you break your arm, everyone comes over to sign your cast. But when we’re suffering from a mental health condition or illness, it’s still taboo. This year, it is even more important than ever. Check in on your family and friends; and most importantly, check in on yourself. How are you going to look after yourself today? Don’t be afraid to ask for help if you need it. The more we talk about it, the more common it becomes - and we can break the cycle of the stigma attached to it.
