Different jobs need different skills. The Skills Spiderweb shows 12 skills common across many different jobs. The Skills Spiderweb can help you understand the skills required for a particular job. Just type the job in the search bar or scroll through to find something of interest. The occupations are linked to Australian and New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations (ANZSCO). From here you can learn more about main job tasks, training pathways, job prospects and pay by following the link to Job Outlook.

  • News from Monash University
    • New Ways to Explore Engineering
      The Engineering Faculty has created a one-stop shop for key information about the different areas of engineering on new specialisation pages.
    • New Biomedical Engineering Specialisation
      Monash is excited to introduce the new Biomedical Engineering specialisation. This specialisation is designed to equip students with the design and problem-solving skills of engineering, together with medical and biological sciences, in order to improve healthcare diagnosis, monitoring, therapy, and the creation of new medical instruments and devices.
    • New Majors in Business and Commerce Degrees
      Monash Business School has added two new majors; Business Studies and Financial Econometrics & Mathematical Foundations of Econometrics.
    • New double degree — Bachelor of Global Studies and Bachelor of IT
      Bachelor of Global Studies aims to create leaders who will tackle our global challenges and create social change and the highly practical Bachelor of IT will teach students to use IT effectively and to develop and manage IT-based systems. Find out more, including the majors offered in each degree, at Global Studies and Information Technology
    • New major — European Languages
      From 2021, students who wish to study languages such as French, German, Italian and Spanish, and Latin American studies, will be taught under a new major titled 'European languages', giving language studies a global context.

NEWS FROM SWINBURNE

Swinburne Design Factory is part of the Global Design Factory Network – a global network of universities offering innovative education, research and partnerships. This network brings together students, industry and researchers to co-create for extraordinary results. The aim is to turn ideas into reality.

 

The projects offer students new and unique experiences, challenging team members to move outside of their comfort zone in order to create innovation and new thinking. Over the course of a project, students gain valuable skills that can set them apart in the employment market, assisting with competencies such as:

  • interdisciplinary teamwork
  • communication and collaboration
  • project management
  • creative problem solving
  • client interaction

ANU TUCKWELL SCHOLARSHIP 2021

Australian National University (ANU) launched the Tuckwell Scholarship Program in 2013.  The Tuckwell Scholarship Program at the ANU is the most transformational undergraduate scholarship program in Australia.  A Tuckwell is not just about a students’ intellect.  It is also about their desire and determination to use their natural abilities to realise their full potential so that they can make a difference in the world. Applying for a Tuckwell Scholarship is a three-stage process which commences with an initial application from yourself and a recommendation from a schoolteacher. Applications will begin in March 2021.  For more information about the Tuckwell Scholarship Program visit Tuckwell Scholarship

AUSTRALIAN UNIVERSITIES IN THE TOP 50 IN THE WORLD

Australia's universities continue to impress on the world stage, with five institutions ranked among the top 50 globally. The QS is one of the top three most influential rankings lists in the world.

A further two Australian institutions, Monash University (55) and the University of Western Australia (92), cracked the top 100.

REMINDER

FOR YEAR 11 STUDENTS LEARN ABOUT ATEP -SWINBURNE'S ALTERNATIVE TERTIARY ENTRY PROGRAM

Available for Year 11 students going into Year 12 in 2021. This program, in partnership with Swinburne University, focuses on students’ individual skills and transitions them into tertiary study during their final year of Secondary education. The program is designed to support students who are otherwise capable but may not (for various reasons) wish to pursue an ATAR. Students undertake assessed Diploma subjects, which must include Language and Literature, and develop a CAS Project while attending Swinburne University once weekly to undertake two University units.

Students must also complete any prerequisite subjects for their chosen pathway.
