Around the School

Early Stage 1 Rainbow

On Tuesday 17th November, Kindergarten had their PBL mid-term reward day at the park. Students were very excited while walking to the park and then while playing together for over an hour on the playground equipment. Once they finished playing they enjoyed a hot lunch at the park before walking back to school. At school they had a Zooper Dooper to cool down and also they designed and constructed their dream park.

Noah Chapman designed a Flying Fox for Kindergarten's dream park.

Early Stage 1 Rainbow - "Weather in my World"

Kindergarten Rainbow have been investigating the science unit, 'Weather in my World'. We have read a number of different texts about the weather and conducted different experiments, including making rainbows and a wind vane, identifying different clouds and making a cloud and rain. We learnt about the only storm with a name, Hector the Convector and drew our own map of Australia and designed our own waistcoats to present our weather as part of 'Waistcoat Wednesday Weather'.

Under 14 s Cricket

On Tuesday 10th November 2020, our secondary department under 14 s played Armidale Secondary College in the first round of the CHSSA 14 Boys Cricket Knockout. Guyra were lucky enough to win the toss and elected to bat, the top Guyra point scorers included Brodi Campbell (25 runs), Brodi Campbell (25 runs), Cooper Wilson (27 runs) and lincoln Brown (12 runs).  Guyra were all out in the 19th over for 98 runs.

Armidale Secondary College went into bat with the first fall of the wicket in the 5th over with Armidale Secondary College having 22 runs on the board. Guyra's best bowling figures for the day were Oscar Atkin (5 overs, 3 for 26), Jack Soraghan (2 overs, 2 for 2), Cooper Reeves (5 overs, 1 for 6) and Brodi Campbell (4 overs, 2 for 8). It was fantastic for students to have the opportunity to play sport again in 2020 and each of the students forming the under 14 team were appreciated the opportunity to play.

Thank you to Armidale Secondary College for travelling to Guyra for the game, Mr Moffitt for coaching and to Mr Laurie Smith for umpiring.
