NAIDOC WEEK

NAIDOC Week has once again brought us together to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

This year’s theme: Always Was, Always Will Be recognises that First Nation peoples have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years.

It invites all Australians to embrace the true history of this country - a history that dates back thousands of generations.

This year Guyra Central School celebrated NAIDOC week during week 5 participating in various activities.

Activities included throughout the week included:

Transition – Decorated Australian animal magnets

Early Stage 1 – Stage 1 Scratch Art – Australian Animals

Stage 2 – Decorated door hangers with Indigenous designs.

Stage 4: Cooking - Damper

Stage 5: Emu Egg Decorating

Stage 6: Magnets – Australian Animals

All the students who participated in the activities did an amazing job creating some fabulous work.  A special thanks needs to go out to all the Teachers, SLSO’s who              coordinated the activities during the week. A special mention to our Junior AECG students who helped with the activities in the Primary School.

We finished off the week on Friday with a morning tea with all the staff and a beautiful cake.

Thanks once again to all the staff and students who helped out leading up to NAIDOC week and during the week with all the activities. Look forward to celebrating NAIDOC Week in 2021.
