Room 9

Students in Room 9 have been learning about various mixtures during their Science lessons. This has been based on a unit called ‘All Mixed Up’.

They have been investigating what constitutes a mixture and the different properties and textures mixtures can have. Students have discovered that mixtures can be found all around us at home and at school. Working as mini-Scientists, the students have had hands on experiences, pouring, mixing, observing, predicting and posing questions along the way. They have been able to come up with lots of adjectives to describe the mixtures, such as sticky, runny, hard, lumpy, white, yellow, murky and many more. They have discovered that mixtures can come in many different forms and some ingredients mix better than others. Sometimes interesting reactions can occur. Over the coming weeks, we look forward to looking at the properties of different materials and investigating which materials may be best used for different purposes and why.

Room 5

Room 5 were very excited to win a prize from Bunnings for their recent submission into the ‘Sing into Spring’ Competition. We have carefully planted our strawberry plants in our winning pots and are eagerly awaiting a harvest!

Remembrance Excursion

On Wednesday, 4 November 2020, the Year 6 students attended the City of Cockburn Youth Remembrance Parade and Service, along with 1000 students from a number of other schools from the area. Led by the Scotch College Bagpipe band, the students marched the streets to the war memorial at Beale Park before listening to various speeches, songs and sombre moments of wreath laying and the playing of the last post. Thank you to Ms Blight for creating a beautiful wreath for Sofia and Bos to lay at the memorial.
