Successful Second Hand Book Sale!
What a wonderful moment to finally be able to hold a PFA run event this year! Thank you to all the school community who participated in this year’s second hand book sale by providing books and buying books. Thank you especially to the 60 parents who donated their time to run the the sale. Between the volunteers over 200 hours were donated to run the sale! This was the largest books sale for the PFA since electronic books were made available - $30,000 worth of books were sold! From these sales about $7500 is collected by the PFA to invest in the school. Special thanks to Carolyn Minster, who has run the bookstall for the last seven years, and now to Fiona McLean and Dominique Gifford, who have run their first successful bookstall, under Covid conditions.
Introducing new volunteers for the second hand uniform shop
The PFA is grateful to Fiona Terrill and Vicki Hannon who have volunteered to organise the second hand uniform shop over the last two years. This is another important way to raise funds for the school. We welcome Zan Griffith and Annie Yeh who will be the friendly faces you meet at the shop in 2021. Thanks for volunteering and keeping this great service to the school community alive. Please support the shop with no longer needed school clothes and buying from the shop (a great move for the environment too!).
Can you count?
Nicky Smith has been a wonderful (and accurate!) treasurer for the last three years, and she’s ready to give someone else the thrill of looking after the accounts for the PFA. The PFA account is part of the larger school account, so the bulk of the work is done admirably by our dedicated school staff. The PFA treasurer has the main task of helping coordinate the funds that the PFA has raised over the last year and communicating with the school on any PFA financial matters. This is a great way to serve the school community and requires attending 7 PFA meetings a year and a couple of hours of work each month collating the financial report in Microsoft Excel to present at the meetings. Nicky is available to assist the new treasurer through until February 2022. Please contact the PFA (pfa@koonung.vic.edu.au) if you’d be willing to help out!
