Library News

An exciting week in the Library with the announcement of the CBCA (The Children's Book Council of Australia) Books of the Year. Students had the opportunity to read all of the shortlisted books, since our own book week in June, and vote on who they thought would win.

On Monday morning at assembly we announced the Book of the Year, and students who picked the winning book were drawn out of a hat.

Congratulations to;

Bryce Broadmore for picking A Walk in the Bush by Gwyn Perkins - Picture Book of the Year

Chloe Fieldes for Rodney Loses It by Michael Gerard Bauer - Early Reader of the Year and

Ashleigh Crouch for How to Bee by Bren MacDribble - Younger Reader of the Year

These students took home a $20 voucher from Scholastic to use in the next Book Club - Great job kids!

For a bit of fun we counted up the votes and the winners of who we thought were the best books for the 'Loch Primary School Book of the Year' are:

Mopoke by Phillip Bunting - Picture Book of the Year

I'm Australian too by Mem Fox - Early Reader of the Year

How to Bee / The Elephant / Henrietta and the Perfect night - These three books were tied for Younger Reader of the Year

Thank you to all of the Students and Teachers for participating.

Please find Chloe, one of our Resource Centre Captains, with winning books attached.

All of the shortlisted books are available for loan in the library along with lots of new fiction books. (Pictured with Savannah) Many great new titles including 104 Story Treehouse, Hot Dog 5, Weirdo 10 and Tom Gates.
