Eisteddfod & Public Speaking
VCAA Plain English Speaking Award
On May 21st Meg Reuel and Tiffany Tracey of Year 12 represented our college in the VCAA Plain English Speaking Award. VCE Students from the region were required to deliver a 6 minute prepared speech and also a 3 minute impromptu speech. Tiffany spoke about dual citizenship laws in parliament whilst Meg spoke about the importance of books and being read to from an early age. Both students were amazing!
Tiffany Tracey was the eventual winner and Meg Reuel was runner up. This was an outstanding achievement and we congratulate the girls for their commitment to public speaking and being such worthy representatives of our school.
Eisteddfod
Last week was the Warrnambool Speech and Drama Eisteddfod week, and I congratulate all involved participants! There were many successes in terms of medallions and ribbons but the main success came from the joy of participation. I also have the pleasure to announce that Tiffany Tracey is the Open aggregate trophy winner! Tiffany excelled in the many events she entered! This is the seventh consecutive year she has won the aggregate for her age group!! There were so many proud moments for me last week. Two further highlights where I was so proud of our students were the two special events: The Beverly Melican Poetry Award and The Ellis and Iris Bickley Memorial Speech. We had great representation in both events and a couple of late nights for students! We now turn our attention to the Eisteddfod debates early in term 3.
