Build friendships with good conversation

The best way to build friendships with other people is through conversation. A conversation can help you get to know somebody and it is an opportunity for you share information about yourself with somebody else.

Try having a SMART conversation and  remember to:

Smile: a smile can communicate many things e.g. you are approachable, you agree with a person, you are interested in the conversation.

Maintain eye-contact: looking at someone can show them that you’re listening.

Ask questions: when you ask a question, you are showing that you are interested in knowing more about what the person is saying.

Respond to cues from your conversation partner e.g. their facial expression might tell you they want to move onto a different topic.

Take-turns: each person in the conversation should have equal opportunities to speak.

My Time

My Time is a peer support group for mothers, fathers, grandparents and anyone caring for a child with a disability or chronic medical conditions. It’s a place for parents and carers to unwind and talk about their experiences. A play helper is also present to provide activities for children attending so members can spend time catching up with each other.

Healthy Vision Improves Learning

Did you know that approximately 1 in 5 children have an undetected vision issue or requires ongoing assessment?

Healthy vision improves learning and is important for physical and social development.

Optometry Australia recommends that all children have their vision checked by an Optometrist before starting school and then regular visits throughout the school years. These checks are usually covered by Medicare so please ask when booking your appointment.

A list of optometrists, including those that speak other languages can be found on www.optometry.org.au/vic/find-an-optometrist

So why not make an appointment today?
