School Council Update - Acting Principal Confirmed
Acting Principal confirmed!
I’m excited to announce that we have appointed Dale McInerney as Acting Principal for Term 1, 2020. Dale has been Assistant Principal at Croydon Hills PS for the past 5 years, where he is held in high regard by the staff and community. More recently he has been on the ‘Unlocking potential’ Bastow Principal development course, which included an internship at Kilsyth PS and an Acting Principal role at Wantirna PS. Dale lives in the Dandenong Ranges and is looking forward to the chance to work locally. I was impressed with Dale’s clear passion and knowledge of the school, along with his commitment to provide experience and stability to our school as we move through this transition phase. Please join me in welcoming and supporting Dale, who will formally start in the role on the first day of school term next year.
Recruitment for Substantive Principal:
As noted previously, there will be another recruitment process in Term 1 for the substantive (permanent) Principal. This will include community consultation and a more formal interview process, including two school councillors and one teacher representative.
School Council AGM:
We will hold our AGM on Monday February 17 at the school. At this stage we expect to have 2-3 open positions and would love to hear from family members who are interested in joining up. The commitment is around 3 hours of meetings per month (including one sub-committee). Useful skills include knowledge in policy writing, grant applications, property maintenance, publicity and financial management – but most important is a desire to learn, to help out, and work together for the benefit of the school and our children. Please reach out to me if you would like more details, and look out for an information session early in the new year.
