Welcome Back for Term 3

Works Completed

On behalf of the Mount View community I would like to acknowledge the great work completed by our Facilities Manager, Tony Lee and our Garden Manager, Nigel De Kauwe for all of the concreting, drainage improvement, fence and gate reconfiguration and general grounds maintenance. The school is presented in excellent fashion for the all students!

Art Show

Advertising signs for the Art Show have been installed around Glen Waverley. The 35th edition of the Mount View Art Show will be held at the school from 21 – 25 August. A very big thank you to our Visual Arts teachers, Angela Pulbrook and Christabelle Toohey and the Art Show team who have been working methodically behind the scenes to prepare a great show. This year we have attracted well over 350 entries from the professional art community. In order to accommodate these entries plus a new ‘Emerging Artist Show’ and a ‘Mount View Primary School Student Art Show’ the Art Show galleries have been expanded from two to three with use of the double portable – Multi-Purpose Room as well as the two Art Rooms. Over the next couple of weeks a task force of volunteers and school staff will be working on the installation of new permanent display panels and a resource bank of movable display boards. All of this will be of on-going benefit to the students at Mount View.

Staffing

I would like to extend a welcome to Mount View to new teacher, Prabh Hodges who will teach the students of 1 BW on Monday and Tuesday each week. Prabh has extensive experience most recently at Mt Ridley P-12 College, prior to regular teaching work in the UK.

Wayne Schultz, a member of our PE Team, has accepted a position at Roxburgh Park PS in the northern suburbs. We thank Wayne for his expertise and enthusiasm over the last eighteen months and wish him every career success in his new role.

Home Learning/Home Work Parent Forum

A Parent Forum to begin discussions around Home Learning/Home Work will be held in the staffroom at 2:30 pm on Monday, 22 July. All interested parents should contact the Office on 9560 0471. Assistant Principal. Felicity Hall-Shulman, will be chairing the meeting seeking to hear the range of perspectives about home learning/Home Work.

Punctuality

Parents are actively encourage to ensure that their children are at school prior to the official start of the day at 8:50 am. Students are also reminded that it is their responsibility to make their way to class when the school bell sounds at the end of recess and lunchtime.

Electronic Signage

A new electronic sign will be installed on the corner of Gallaghers and Shepherd Roads next Wednesday, 24 July. This sign has been funded through the efforts of the Parents Club throughout last year. Once the new sign is fully commissioned the school will be able to update relevant messages to the community.

Pick My Project

In the next couple of weeks work will begin on the installation of three new basketball, netball and tennis courts outside the football ground boundary. We look forward to these works taking place to provide extra play opportunities for our students.

Drop and Go

Parents are reminded that the parking area in front of the school is a Drop and Go Zone in the morning. Please do not park and then leave your car.

Seat Belts

It is a legal requirement that all passengers and drivers wear a seat belt while a car is in motion. It has been noted that some children have not been wearing seatbelts as they arrive or leave the school.
