Career News

This term students have been active in their Career Research and participation, attending events such as:

  • Year 7 girls attended the ‘Inspiring the Future GIRLS TECH Day’ which was held at Blacktown RSL on Wednesday 4th December. The day allowed the girls opportunities to interact with STEM professionals from industry and educational organisations as they take part in various exciting hands-on, high-tech activities such as coding, robotic challenges, 3D printing and virtual reality technology.
  • Year 10 students attended the ‘Careers in Health Day’ - A Careers information day focusing on career pathways and opportunities in the Health Industry.
  • Year 10 Apprenticeship Mentoring group finalised their design and production of two portable workbench tables that can be utilised by the Visual Arts, Construction/Timber and Metalwork classes. The students worked exceptionally well throughout the program to complete the two benches. All students demonstrated all the employability skills during the project. At the competition of the projects, students could identify where and how they used these employability skills throughout the program. The students should be very proud of their efforts and exceptional behaviour - Stuart Fairbairn, Dylan Houston, Ray Lassalo, Alex Mokaleri, Tupe Tatutu and Christopher Webster-Williams.
  • Year 10 Industry Webinars covering careers in Sport, Fitness and Health were conducted. Students were able to speak with professionals in these areas and gain an insight into their career journeys including a Fox Sports Presenter, Cricket Tasmania. Blundstone Arena Manager and a Sports Scientist with Richmond AFL Club.
  • Year 11 students participated in the ABCN mentoring program with Ernst and Young as part of their corporate support to schools in mentoring year 11 students and focusing on resumes and presenting yourself for work.

VET News

Year 12 VET students have been very busy completing their competencies and the school is very proud of their efforts.

 

The following students have obtained their Certificate II in Engineering:

Dilshad Ali, Chantelle Camilleri, Erika Estera, Ezekiel Maniago, Amanda Moore, Elham Ramazani, Lilla Sale and Shauna Thomas
