A Message from the Principal

Mrs Pauline Long

Dear Parents and Carers,

The beginning of a new school term is always a wonderful time. The students arrived yesterday with a smile on their faces and they all looked so well dressed in their summer uniforms. Many students excitedly shared their holiday adventures with me.

This action packed term has many events to look forward to:

Learning Growth: One of the highlights of term 4 for me is that I know I will witness the tremendous learning growth of our students. Consistent hard work during the year pays off!

Brain Olympia: Our primary classes will participate in our school Brain Olympia competition this Thursday in the parish hall.  The day consists of teams working together to answer general knowledge questions, solve challenging maths problems, present a speech and have fun presenting a skit on a given topic. The Diocesan competition is on in Tamworth on 26th October. Mrs Bartholomew will accompany our team which will be selected from this Thursday’s event.

Kinder Readiness: We welcome our new Kinder students this Friday for their first half day of preparing for ‘big’ school.

Book Fair: On Thursday 20th October from 5.00 -7.00pm we have our Annual Book Fair. All students are encouraged to attend and come dressed as a character from their favourite book or come dressed in this year’s theme ‘Paws for Books: Come Stay Read a Tale!’ The staff will be dressing up too!

Canberra Excursion: Our Year 5-6 students (accompanied by Mrs Bartholomew, Mrs Meade and 3 parents) will finally have their Year 6 excursion. We wish them a safe, fun and educational trip.

POSI SCHOOLS: A new initiative for our school this term is that we are introducing a series of 21 short lessons to encourage positive thinking and to create positive habits for a happier and healthier life. We are currently awaiting a shipment of socks for the students to wear each Wednesday (instead of their usual sports socks). This will encourage all students to ‘Start your day on the right foot’  by positive self-talk or by helping others to have a happy day. More information will follow in next week’s newsletter.

Our School Garden          WANTED ! Parent or Community Helpers!

Do you love gardening? Can you spare half an hour each week or fortnight to help our students tend the gardens at lunch time? We would love lots of members in our ‘Green Team’. Please ring Kate Thompson to volunteer and early next term we'll arrange a time to meet and plan our wonderful gardens.

Have a happy week

Pauline Long
