Michael "I am most looking forward to the applications and interviews for the leaderships roles we will have in grade 6. Later in the term we usually have a students versus teachers netball game, and that will be fun because it is always very entertaining and we also get to see the teachers showing off".
Maddie "I am excited about the leadership roles and the opportunities we will have next year. The applications and interviews are a fun way to get ready for grade 6. I am also looking forward to continuing to see my buddy from prep."
Grade 6
Leadership
Grade 6 students have been developing leadership plans, with specific events and programs rolling out over the term to create positive change across the school and the community. An example of an action plan that you will hear more about in the coming weeks is an information night about violence against women in week five, organised by Ben, Annabelle, Anya and Scarlett. We are proud of the maturity and organisation skills displayed by our senior students. More information is coming soon.
Grade 6 Camp
The Year 6 students from our school will soon be undertaking an education tour of the national capital. They will be given the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational programs with a focus on Australian history, culture, heritage and democracy. The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion the Australian Government is contributing funding of $45.00 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program towards those costs. The rebate is paid directly to the school upon completion of the excursion.
What are you most looking forward to this term?
Brody "We are going to Canberra for camp. I am looking forward to seeing the city because I have never been to Canberra. The bus ride will be long so we will have to find ways to entertain ourselves. "
Alfie "I am looking forward to seeing the Australian War Memorial. I have been before and I am interested to see if there are parts of the memorial that I didn't see last time. My great grandfather fought in world war two. We are getting the plane back to Melbourne at the end so that will be interesting."
Angelina "I have never been to Canberra before. I am looking forward to spending time with my friends in the cabins. We have been learning about how parliament works and we will get to see parliament house."
Visual Arts
Students have been relishing the opportunity to refine their drawing skills, creating their own still life masterpieces. Please take a look at the pictures below!
