Week 7 Update

It doesn’t feel like we have moved through six weeks of Summer sport. The season feels like it is just getting started with our teams building momentum and consistency, but alas it has all come to an end. It was such a contrast to Term 1, where we hardly got a training session, let alone a game. Term 4 has given the boys an opportunity to play, develop and have some fun. It was great to see the comradery, the passion, and the skills on display each week of Term 4.

I would like to say a huge thank you to all our Junior School staff and coaches for taking the time out of their days to train and coach our teams throughout the season. I know the boys have enjoyed the sessions and looked forward to each game. To our parents/carers, without you there is no sport program. We rely on you to travel, drop off and pick up your sons from all over Sydney. Without your unwavering support we would not experience nearly the same level of success that we do. Finally, to all the boys, congratulations on completing the season with such good grace and strong effort. As I mentioned in our assembly, it is not whether we win or lose the last round, it is important to finish with a strong team performance. While the results may not have gone in our favour in the final round, it was fantastic to hear such positive feedback from coaches on how big an effort all the teams put in. Well done boys.

Now that the season has ended, it is time to start collecting all the equipment and pack it away, ready for the new Summer season in Term 1 2023. If you have a game ball or kit belonging to the College, I would kindly ask that you return it to me this week. All boys that played basketball must return their singlets this week. There were a good portion of singlets returned early this week, however many are still outstanding. Please be aware that any singlet not returned will incur a replacement cost of around $65 or more. Singlets should be returned washed and neatly folded please.

The Junior School Presentation Night will be held in the College Gym on Friday 25 November. Doors will open at 6:00 PM to families and the presentation will start promptly at 6:30 PM. Boys will be seated in their Winter sport teams for the night, towards the front. Once all teams are seated, parents/carers will be able to sit in the remaining seats behind the boys. It is expected that all boys involved in either a Summer and/or Winter sport, including Debating, will be present on the night. Boys are to wear their College Summer uniform without the blue cap.

Of late, I have had several enquiries regarding the purchase of the sport photos taken earlier in the year. I am still waiting on the information regarding this and will let you know once they are available. As with many things post COVID-19, waiting times have increased for various reasons. I am hopeful that the photos will be available before the end of the school year, however this may carry over to early Term 1,2023. I appreciate that this is frustrating but would ask for your understanding and patience.

With just over a week of the school year remaining, I encourage all the boys in the Junior School to work hard for the remaining days. Make every lesson count and take a moment to reflect on how far you have come this year. I look forward to seeing you all next week at the Annual Speech Night and Prize Giving Presentation.
