Prayer for our HSC Students

The College was saddened to hear of the passing of Mr Terry Patterson's dear father during the holidays.   Please keep Mr Patterson and his family in your prayers.

Eternal rest, grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace.

The HSC Begins!

The HSC began today with the first English exam and students were settled and worked well to the task at hand.   Other exams held this week are Music and Modern History.  We continue to pray for our HSC students and wish them well.

Welcome to Term 4

I do hope that all students, parents and staff enjoyed the term break over the past two weeks. Term 4 promises to be a full and lively one with special focus on our HSC students completing their exams as well as our new Year 12 2023 starting their HSC studies.

We welcome back to staff Mrs Sophie Casamento and Mrs Carolyn Scott who re-join us this term. Welcome also to Mrs Georgia Florida in the Uniform Shop.

Special welcome to new staff joining us this term. Welcome Ms Amber Chen who will replace Mr Steve Quilty; Mrs Emma Centofanti who will join the Finance Team as the Assistant Accountant; Mr Jordan Molyneux who will join the ICT as a Helpdesk Operator. We also welcome Ms Nellie Alchikh into the Junior School Resource Centre while Elena Martin is on LSL.

Unfortunately, Mr Casey has been unable to join us for Week 1 as he has had an Achilles Heel operation during the holidays.

Attendance

Throughout 2022, there has been significant student absenteeism and I appreciate that this may have been due to concerns about COVID-19.

Now that the pandemic has eased and Government regulations modified, it is very important that students attend every day, wherever possible and within reason.

Staff Day - P&F Breakfast

On behalf of the College staff I thank the P & F for the beautiful BBQ breakfast they gave to staff on the last day of Term 3. This recognition from parents is certainly unique to our school and I thank all involved.  It is very much appreciated by all staff.

Manly Jazz Festival

On the first Saturday of the Holidays, 24 September, the Senior Jazz Band performed in St Matthew’s Church at the Manly Jazz Festival under the direction of Geoff Power. They were brilliant and the Year 12 students who performed were so proud to play together for the last time. Along with the parents, Mr Sean Brannan, Mr Anthony Timmins and I were just in awe of the many talents of this amazing band. Congratulations to all.

Tom Livy Year 12

Congratulations to Tom Livy for his nomination for possible inclusion in HSC ENCORE for Music. This is wonderful recognition for Tom and we congratulate Tom’s teacher, Mr Anthony Timmins and accompanist Mr Stephen Cummins.

Maintenance and ICT During the Holidays

A great deal of general maintenance has been completed during the holidays as well as a range of special projects. Many thanks to our Maintenance, Grounds and ICT staff.

  • New artificial grass has been laid under B Block as well as in Big Brother as part of our improvements to the playground. We will also be putting new furniture and some planter boxes in place between Term 4 and the start of next year. Some of this has commenced already. Thanks to the P & F who have contributed over $30,000 to this project.
  • New phone system: It was a big job for ICT to install our new phone system during the break. Thanks to Rob Stephen, Daniel McGowen, Michael Ortega and Nic Parton in ICT for this major project.
  • In D Wing we have new furniture in the classrooms and it looks great. Thanks to Andy Darbin, Stuart Munday, Ben Williams, David Reay and Lachlan Skeen for managing this.

Good news on Channel 9 about SPX
