Being in Production is easily compared to being in a family... with 100+ members. For the months leading up to opening night we sing, act, dance and practise until either our muscles give out or we've gotten every thing down pat. But another thing happens during those months, we start spending time with people that we wouldn't have met otherwise, spanning every year level. Year 7's dance with Year 10's. Year 12's perfect harmonies with Year 8's. Barriers are taken down by the simple unified love of performing. But the Production is not all about people who were born to be on the stage. It's open to anyone who wants to audition and join our family, and even for seasoned production veterans in Year 12, going on stage can be nerve-wracking. But a fortunate side effect of overcoming these nerves is a huge boost in confidence. And for someone just starting in Year 7, that is an amazing feeling, in an otherwise uncertain time, in a new and large school. The staff and teachers who make up the Production Team have the enormous task of creating a show that includes everyone, dazzles the audience and gets you on the edge of your seat. The do this, for no other reason, than they love seeing all the people in the production shine.... as a family.

Year 12 can be a very stressful year with a very heavy workload, but coming to Production rehearsals every Thursday is the absolute highlight of our week. Seeing our entire Production family and the effort everyone puts into the show makes all the additional stress and time management worth it. What better way to end our time at the College than with a show like "Beauty and The Beast"! We've both been doing production for a number of years now, and "Beauty and The Beast" has been one of our favourite shows. We've had so much fun putting this show together, and we're so excited to perform to sold out audiences every night. We know all of the Year 12's are both incredibly excited and sad to be performing in our last show at Wantirna College, but we are very glad that it has been this show with these people. If we were to give any advice to future Year 12's who are considering doing Production but are worried about balancing study and other commitments, we would say do it. With time management and commitment, both aspects can be completed in a successful way. We can't thank our Production staff enough for all they have done for us over the years in mentoring us and just being absolute awesome people. We will miss the cast very much, but for now, we cannot wait to put on this spectacular show. We will definitely be back to watch next year!

It was an awesome experience. You got to work as a team and no one judged you for what you did. Everyone was committed to trying their hardest. We got to call the teachers Chambers, and Krugs and Marty. When we see them now we call them by their proper names, but we know inside that we can call them the other names.

I loved it - it was amazing! You get to meet so many new people who you then meet in The Orchard and you know Year 12s and 11s and 10s. It makes you feel part of the group. It was a great way to start at Wantirna College.
