Term 2 Reflections

Term 2

Term 2 was a busy and exciting term for the Reception classes.

Our HASS focus on Being Happy and Healthy gave us plenty of opportunities to discuss how we keep ourselves healthy.  There were many discussions surrounding healthy foods to eat, drinking lots of water and making sure we get enough sleep and exercise. We discussed how we can be the very best and created some fantastic books about ourselves.

We were also very  lucky enough to have a visit from Mem Fox this term.  Mem entertained us all by reading some of her books and if anyone has seen her will know that she is a fantastic story teller. She had everyone in awe as she read aloud to all of the Early Years.

In Term 2, we also began to visit the Lockleys Preschool in order to make new friends and continue the transition to between school and kindy. It's been great meeting our new "kindy friends". We have enjoyed visiting the kindy and showing our kindy teachers how much we have grown and developed since we began school. We also welcomed small groups of kindy children into our learning spaces in Discovery Time, Bookmaking and during our Arts rotations.  We will continue the transition process during term 3 and 4.

The final Thursday of Term 2 coincided with our Reception children's 100th day of school. It was fantastic to see so many children dressed  up in our theme of "What I want to be when I grow up". We had police officers, doctors, nurses, teachers, artists and chefs just to name a few.   We enjoyed games and activities based around "100" , made fairy bread with 100's and 1000's and created paper chains out of 100 pieces of paper.
