HSIE and Language News

Congratulations to our Year 10 students on the completion of the Fieldwork Day at Terrigal AND Wamberal on Friday 14 July. A huge thanks to Miss McLennan and the HSIE team for making this possible. A lot of behind the scenes preparation has to go into this type of whole year group event and I am sure that Year 10 are grateful for the opportunity. Students were able to explore the issues that surround Terrigal Lagoon, Wamberal Beach and the impact of development on and near Terrigal Beach.

Vietnam Tour 2020

Thank you to parents and caregivers who have given permission for thirty three very lucky Henry Kendall High School students to travel to Vietnam in April 2020. Our deposits to secure the tour have now been paid and we will be seeking support with fund raising and completing the necessary administrative tasks in Term 3. I am sure that students will have their time of their lives!

Modern History Excursion to Sydney University

On Thursday the 8th of June, Year 12 Modern History students attended an excursion to Sydney University for the HSC Study Day. Organised by Mrs Mitchell, students felt, “more prepared for the HSC and confident in what we have studied so far”. This was coordinated by the NSW History Teachers Association, to provide students with the best resources and opportunities for the new syllabus implemented from 2018-2019. This year’s Modern History HSC Exam will be the first-time students sit an exam with the new syllabus, with students stating, “the day was really useful we completed key summaries and learnt important exam insights and strategies”. HKHS Students were able to understand what a day at University could feel like and heard from Key lecturers including, Kenn Webb, Bruce Dennett, Johnathon Dallimore, Phil Mundy and Bernie Howitt. Overall students are well-prepared for the Trial and HSC exam whilst enjoying a day at Sydney University.
