Remote Learning and Parent Survey

Thank you to the 70 + families who responded to the Junior School Remote Learning survey. We have collated the data and spent our Wednesday staff meeting looking at your feedback, with a view to continuous improving of our remote learning program. No doubt every household is experiencing their own unique journey. Author Robert Quin has a lovely quote that encapsulates the deep change the remote learning environment we all find ourselves in -‘Let’s build the bridge as we walk it.’

As a Junior School staff, we would like to thank parents, caregivers and students for the way they have embraced Term Two learning from home. There are certainly many heroes and little heroes to applaud - well done.

Online Parent Information Session

Next Tuesday, May 5th, we will conduct an online parent meeting at 7.00 pm. Junior School parents will be emailed a link to join the meeting. It will be an opportunity for us to explain aspects of the remote learning program. Parents will be able to post questions during the meeting.

Memories of Myrniong

In last week’s newsletter I mentioned Year Five student Amelia Bradbeer’s lovely idea of putting a book together featuring the thoughts of students and staff on the subject of missing being at Myrniong. The students will have until Friday, May 8th to submit their thoughts. I have already received a number of high quality responses.

Evie Kennedy - Year Six (Junior School Captain)

Missing Myrniong

I can’t hear the bustling corridors or see my friends,

After Wednesday’s school I can’t canter to the world’s ends,

In Myrniong I’ll not forget the times of joy and fun,

I know this will not last but we must remember that it eventually will be done,

If we try we will pull through it doesn’t all depend on you,

To stop this there are many things that we can do,

This is a family time to spend,

I assure you the world will not end.

Charlie Hawthorne - Year Six (Learmonth House Captain)

Missing Myrniong

What I miss about Myrniong is waking up every morning knowing that I would be doing schoolwork and working hard every day.

I also miss that knowing that every day I would see my friends.

Elsie Dyer (Year One)

Missing Myrniong

I miss Myrniong because I can’t see my friends and I miss playing in the magical playground and also my special teachers.

Amelia Bradbeer (Year Five)

Missing Myrniong

I miss driving down the driveway surrounded by trees

I miss the friends that you can always count on

I miss the sound of our charming bell

I miss being able to ask questions with a straightaway answer

I miss the loud engines of the bus as they turn on for the end of day drive

But most of all I miss Myrniong

Mrs. Anne Kristin Christie - (Music Teacher)

I am the Music Room.

Where are my sounds?

I used to be filled up with

dance, rhymes and rounds.

This silence is really not for me.

Let’s get back together quite soon. Agree?

Head of Junior School

Online "Games Day"

Next Wednesday, 6th May all Myrniong students are invited to dress up as their favourite sports person and engage in Mrs. Patterson’s online “games day” and be given the opportunity to participate in the Myrniong “Toilet roll keepie-uppie challenge”.   There are various “toilet roll keepie-uppie challenges” posted on the internet if you are unsure what it is.   Mrs. Patterson will collate your entries to make Myrniong’s very own film clip.
