Assistant Principal's Report

A Message from Mr Laurie

Finally, next week we can welcome all students back to school!

This is so exciting, you have all been missed so much. I’ve been at ACPS for 6 months now but have only had all students onsite for about 4 weeks of this. It has been really tough getting to know everyone remotely, so I am especially pleased with this easing of restrictions.

Despite only having a few students onsite, many things have been happening at school, and of course the students have been working so hard. The ’thank-you’ video that many families were involved in making for the staff was so well received. There were a few tears shed watching that one! It was so great to see lots of smiling, wonderful and grateful students. I’d like to extend a special thank-you to Ali Sharma for coordinating this. From all of the staff, it really touched our hearts. We love what we do, and we love seeing our kids and our community pulling together in tough times.

Victorian High Ability Program

The Department of Education and Training this year has initiated the Victorian High Ability Program. This is an extra-curricular program run through Virtual School Victoria. Students are selected to participate in this program via their results in a range of assessments, with only those achieving in the top few percent of the state being invited. Impressively, this term, ACPS has four students who are participating.

This is an incredible achievement! Congratulations to:

Ryder   5/6H       (Mathematics program)

Jorja     5/6H       (English program)

Ruby    5/6H       (English program)

Zara     5/6A        (English program)

Stay safe,

Jake Laurie
