In Year Five, students have had an extremely busy term. There has been Lightening Premiership, District Cross Country, Electives and Life Education Van. As a collective, we are working on respectful relationships, forgiveness and what it means to be a trustworthy person.
In Writing, students have been working on creating ‘Twisted Tales.’ They choose their own adventure inspired writing pieces. which have been inspired by Disney Movies that were originally supposed to have alternate endings. Students watched ‘Raya and the Last Dragon,’ to inspire their characters, settings and plot development. S31 are looking forward to finishing their published pieces and sharing these over this week.
In Mathematics, students are working on division and chance. Students are learning to divide by 1and 2-digit divisors, with and without decimals and remainders. Students have been very engaged in Challenging Tasks that run every Monday and Thursday in Mathematics workshops. Students are enjoying the level of complexity in each task and are displaying our room’s values.
This year we have developed really meaningful connections with our buddies in J10. Each fortnight, we meet with our buddies and focus on caring for others, friendliness, respect, valuing difference, including others and responsibility. It is fantastic to see our Year 5 students creating beautiful bonds with our Year 1 students. Last week, we had a fantastic time playing competitive games that focused on cooperation and communication.
