Springers in Action

What's been on at the Springs

Highlighting our Amazing Springers

The term keeps rolling on and so do the amazing achievements by the amazing Springers. From creative artwork to outstanding sporting achievements, the students at the Springs continue to go above and beyond.

MP Jordan Crunale Visit

We had a special visit by local MP, Jordan Crugnale who was interviewed by our school captains for the upcoming Double Scoop episode. She was thoroughly impressed by, not only our school captains but with the professionalism of the Media Arts Captains who filmed the interview and also by her walk around the school, meeting our fabulous Springers.  Jordan donated some fabulous books for our library,  some environmentally friendly bamboo toothbrushes and some lettuce seeds for the garden. We appreciate her time and look forward to future visits.

Cranbourne Botanic Gardens Excursion

Wednesday 11th May and Monday 16th May

As part of our Indigenous studies inquiry topic, Prep classes had the wonderful opportunity to visit the Cranbourne Botanic Gardens!

The day began with a bus ride where we were able to spot some animals along the way. We saw cows, horses, goats, koalas, deer, and even kangaroos! Once we arrived we continued to take in the wildlife around us as we had something to eat.

To begin the Shared Country learning program, we participated in an Acknowledgement of Country and learned some Indigenous words. Next, we rotated through some activities with which the students really engaged!

We learned about Aboriginal tools and inventions and how they were used.

We created lemon myrtle scent bags, which the students were able to take home.

We soared through the walking track like an eagle (or Bunjil) and learned about the traditional uses of plants and trees along the way.

We also learned about how Indigenous peoples used ochre to create paint and how they used it to camouflage their bodies.

It was fantastic to see our Springers demonstrating our school values of Respect, Responsibility and Resilience throughout the day!

District Cross Country

On Friday 3rd June, three students braved the cold and competed in DivisionCross Country. Congratulations to Arabella who placed a fantastic 5th, Fab who placed an awesome 8th and Max who blitzed the field with an impressive 1st place.

We are so proud of the way you have represented the Springs in every way and we wish all three of these superstars the Success they deserve when they move on through to Regional Cross Country mid-June.

Writing

Each term we focus on two genres in writing.  This term these genres are Procedural and Report writing.  This week in Year 3, M27 were making marionette puppets so they could then write a procedure on how to make one. Matilda made a giraffe and she has done an amazing job.   Matilda designed it, recorded the materials needed and thought of different ways to complete each part before then attempting to write it as a procedural text for others to follow.

Well done. It looks great Matilda.

L.O.T.E. Japanese presents "I can sing a Rainbow"

Breadon Sensei and some dedicated year 3 students worked tirelessly to learn and present a "Japanese Choir" performance of I can sing a rainbow.

What a great way to learn the Japanese words for colours. Enjoy...
