YR 10 REFLECTION DAY

The Year 10 Reflection Day offered an abundance of wisdom and interactive workshops last Thursday at Holy Cross Centre, Templestowe.   Representatives from seven community organisations generously volunteered their time, sharing their expertise within practical workshops. This year we were privileged to welcome professionals from Aged Care, a Special Developmental School, an Environmental organisation, an Opportunity Shop, Youth Philanthropy, Welfare and a Community Centre.

Leading this exciting day were keynote speakers from Lander and Rogers Law Firm. Sobur Dhieu & Adele Maloney delivered personal stories and explained their pro bono work and volunteering, key to their firm’s ethos and mission. Excellent role models in initiating outstanding community engagement, their vibrant personalities captured the attention of all lucky enough to be present.

Enabling students’ opportunities to develop empathy and understanding is pivotal to our Community Action Program. We hope the students have been inspired to seek future connection with those in the community most needing our care.

For the afternoon session of the day, the Year 10 Student Leadership Team organised and presented a newspaper fashion design contest. With enthusiasm and creativity, the Year 10 students turned newspapers and magazines into stunning gowns and dresses, complete with hats and accessories. The resultant fashion parade was absolutely fabulous.
