UNIT 1 VISUAL COMMUNICATION

In this Area of Study students were required to design an illustration for a culinary calendar whereby each page depicts a beautiful international recipe. Students used the mid-century style of the ‘Golden-era’ of illustrators including, Charlie Harper, Ted Schapp, and Mary Blair for their inspiration. The expectation was for a strong emphasis on colour, line, shape, hierarchy, contrast, figure-ground and pattern. Students then used a vector-based program (Adobe Illustrator) to create their final presentations.
