Junior School

Welcome back to Term 2! We hope our Junior School students and families had a relaxing break and have already settled back into their school routine.

Congratulations to our Year 7 students on the successful completion of their first term. Beginning secondary schooling is a marvellous milestone and we are proud of the wonderful start our Year 7s have made. On the final day of their first term, the Year 7s gathered in the Hall to watch “Wonder” as a celebration of this achievement, with the theme of the film linking to the Bounce curriculum.

“It was really good. I enjoyed the movie. It reminded everyone to treat everyone fairly and think about what others are going through.” Leo Virgona 7G

“It was good. It added on to some of the learning that we have been doing in Bounce and so I looked at some of the ideas a little deeper.” Harriette Berry 7G

Cross Country

The final day of Term 1 also saw our Year 7 and 8 students take part in the annual whole school cross-country event. Students made their way along the three kilometre track, starting on the oval journeying around the surrounding community and finishing to cheers from their peers on the oval. We were very proud to watch all of our Junior School students participate in this college wide event.

Upcoming Events

On Friday 30 April, Year 8 students will take part in a celebration day at Sidetracked Indoor Entertainment Centre. This is a fantastic opportunity for our Year 8s to strengthen their sense of belonging at RSC and further develop their connections with their peers and staff alike. Students and staff are looking forward to a fun-filled day of go-karting, laser tag, dodgem cars, miniature bowling and minigolf, activities that were missed during 2020.

Junior School Student Achievements

Congratulations to Leyanna Brown (8F) on her fantastic achievement at the Diving Age National Competition. Leyanna showed resilience and determination winning a bronze medal at 1m, a gold medal at 3m and finishing 5th in the platform diving (5m and 7.5m). Great effort Leyanna!

Anzac Spirit

Term 2 Bounce lessons have got off to a great start with students reflecting on the importance of ANZAC day and the sacrifices that were made. Students expressed their gratitude by creating poppies and writing letters of appreciation to soldiers. The poppies were displayed at the ANZAC Day Assembly and were a lovely way for students to show their gratitude in a symbolic manner.

Transition to winter uniform

The cooler weather has arrived just in time for the start of Term 2, and it has been lovely to see our Junior School students transition smoothly to their winter uniform. A reminder that all students will be expected to be in full winter uniform for the remainder of Term 2 and Term 3.
