RSC Heritage and Alumni Group

At the start of 2021 Michael Phillips engaged an ex-teacher from an organisation called OurSchool* to assist in creating a common RSC Alumni group of students.  We believe we can assist this Alumni objective with our knowledge of the early years of Ringwood High School to make it a success.

This Heritage committee was started by an Assistant Principal in the 1990s to collect copies of the records and photos the previous students had in their personal files following the two arson attacks which destroyed parts of the school structure, its records and history documents.

Another project that was progressively introduced were the halls of achievement to showcase the successes and achievements of students who were educated at RHS and RSC – many students have been added in recent years.  A new hall was added to recognise those students who had a successful working life, achieved in some field of business, commerce, sport or in the arts and sciences and still managed to find time to assist their community in some way.

We would like to hear about those students who have made similar achievements in their lives that live up to the college motto of “Culture and Service”.  They may qualify for recognition in the RSC Heritage Hall of Fame.  Many past students have already been recognised in this hall.

Committee members have left and others have joined the RSC Heritage and Alumni Group committee bringing with them new skills and ideas to assist in continuing college history and introducing new initiatives to support the college and its students.

To keep this work going we need new committee members who have similar interests in RSC and its long history, so if you are an ex-student and feel you can share your skills, accumulated knowledge and abilities we would like to hear from you.  A committee of like-minded people can achieve great things by sharing their skills - just ordinary people working with a common purpose.

A successful addition in 2015 to RSC’s growth has been the creation of the RSC Heritage Perpetual Scholarship Fund to assist students as they commence Years 11 or 12 of their VCE studies.  The initial funding was provided by original students of RHS and some generous community people to give assistance for students whose parents may find it difficult for their child to complete the VCE course.

Our intention is to keep students at school to complete their schooling and prepare them for their future choices.  We can offer two scholarships of $500 each year.

If you have a student who will be starting or continuing VCE in 2022, look out for the RSC Heritage Perpetual Scholarship Application Form which will be available in Term 3.  You will be notified in this page when the form becomes available.
