Head of Primary's Update
We would like to welcome all our families back to what is already proving to be another exciting and busy term. A special welcome to our new families who have joined us this week. On Monday, all staff participated in a professional learning day with Jennifer Woods, an educational consultant from Association of Independent Schools (AISNSW). Staff worked collaboratively together to unpack the latest research regarding Deep Learning in classrooms. We look forward to continuing to develop our knowledge in this area to provide engaging learning opportunities for our students.
Moama Lights
In Term 1, students in the Primary School were invited to submit an artwork which responded to the theme of ‘why I love living in Echuca Moama’ for the inaurgual Moama Lights event. Moama Lights is a three-week celebration of art, light and all things Moama. The festival is an immersive sound and light trail starting at the underside of the Echuca Moama bridge and highlighting the natural beauty through Horseshoe Lagoon before finishing at the Murray River.
Every night from 8 to 22 May 2021, captivating light installations will transform Horseshoe Lagoon and tell the story of Echuca Moama through light and sound. The show will feature light installations and projections including theatrical fog, strobe and cutting edge moving light technology. Moama Lights is a FREE ticketed family event. Primary Parent Volunteer Induction
Those parents, guardians and/or significant others who would like to be involved in volunteering at the school for a variety of school activities throughout the year, are required to complete the three steps below:
- Attend the Volunteer Induction on Wednesday 28 April at 8:30am in the Multipurpose Hall. During this session we will discuss the Child Protection Advice and Code of Conduct for Volunteers.
- Obtain a Working with Children Check (WWCC) prior to commencing duties. The WWCC is a requirement for anyone who works or volunteers in child-related work in NSW. It involves a National Police Check (criminal history record check) and a review of reportable workplace misconduct. The Check is FREE for volunteers and the link below provides further information on how to obtain a WWCC online.
https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/transaction/apply-working-children-check
- Read and sign the ‘Volunteer Agreement’, which includes your WWCC number and Date of Birth, and hand this form to the Primary Office.
Once parents have completed the steps above, they are able to commence volunteer duties.
Mother’s Day Celebration
As part of celebrating Mother’s Day and honouring all of the mothers at Moama Anglican Grammar, the Primary students would like to invite their mother/grandmother or significant other for a morning of Mother’s Day craft activities. You are invited to join your child/ren in their classroom on Friday 7 May from 9:00 - 10:30am. We hope that you can join us on this special occasion.

It provides another means of uniting the school community and enhances the quality of relationships within the school between teachers, parents and the students.

Life Education Van
Every second year, we have the pleasure of welcoming the Life Education Van to our school to provide students with a unique experience that may assist them to develop strategies and practice the skills required to lead a healthy lifestyle. The majority of the Primary students visited the Life Education Van during the first week and the remaining students will visit the van on Monday.
Reflection by Paige McMaster (on behalf of 6G)
We had a great experience when we went to go see Healthy Harold in the Life Education Van. We learnt about the types of drugs that are good and bad for your health. A drug is something that changes our body that isn’t water, food or oxygen. The bad types of drugs change the way your body works in an unhealthy way. Our Life Education Van teacher Steff, taught us all about that in an interactive way, she made us feel happy and comfortable, she even showed us some of Harold's things. At the end of the lesson we got to see Harold the Giraffe. Year 6G had an amazing time.
