Responsible Serving of Alcohol Course

On Thursday 6th May, a selected group of VCAL students were chosen to complete a Responsible Serving of Alcohol course and receive a certificate when completed. This course has educated us on a variety of units such as:

  • The responsibility of serving alcohol on a licensed premises.
  • How to identify and deal with the unpredictable actions of an intoxicated patron.
  • How much alcoholic content is in each variety of drink.
  • How to safely pace a patron’s alcohol consumption.
  • How to safely refuse drinks to someone who is intoxicated and underage patrons.
  • The different fines you may receive if a workplace does not follow the correct laws surrounding the service of alcohol.

The course was a one-day course that gave them a full qualification that will last 3 years. We were given all the information we needed to complete a test on RSA at the end of our course. Our whole class passed the test and will be receiving their certificates very soon.

Overall we enjoyed the course and learnt a lot of very educational information that we can use in the workplace and in everyday life. We highly recommend that future students are given the opportunity to complete this course and receive their own RSA certificate.
