Autism Awareness Day was celebrated at our school on Friday 23. Looking around our school we were a sea of different shades of blue.

All of our classes added to the 'Autism Awareness' display in the undercover area. Some classes watched Julia from Sesame Street and shared her interactions. Other classes looked at famous people with autism.

A common understanding shared from each class was that just as there are many different shades of blue, so too every person with autism is different and that is great!

Autism (ASD) is a condition that affects how a person thinks, feels and communicates with others. Current figures in Australia suggest that an estimated 1 in 70 people are on the autism spectrum.
