Principal's Message

This term is 11 weeks long and we are two weeks in already! I hope you all enjoyed the long weekend, even though we were in lockdown. Week two adjustments were sent to parents via Class Dojo. Further information will also be released as necessary.

New Staff Appointment

Last term, we conducted interviews for the vacant PE position. I am very pleased to announce that Mrs Lisa Allen  won the permanent role. We are very lucky to have Mrs Allen, who was already acting in the role. She has a strong background in PE and we look forward to her bringing great  enjoyment to the students of MPS.

Anzac Service @MPS

It was wonderful to see so many parents attending our Anzac service last week. It was a lovely service, with the setting of the sun rather than rising as is the norm at a dawn service. Our special guests Dr Anne Aly MP, Meredith Hammat MLA, Mike Freeman RSL, Eric Jones School - Board Chair and Danica Charlton - P&C President, commented on what a respectful and appropriate service it was. Selected members from the choir and Mr Tomlinson did a fantastic job at such short notice.

We were able to place 5 floral wreaths at our memorial and we would like to thank Meredith Hammat MLA, Tracey Roberts Mayor for the City of Wanneroo and our own Luu family for the donation of these wreaths.  Below is a photo of the wreaths we received during the day on Thursday.

A special thank you to Rachel Ludwick and Catherine Smith for volunteering their time in preparing the sausage sizzles, the proceeds of which go towards the Year 6 camp.

New School Business Plan

Our unrelenting focus on school improvement continues. We are about to launch our next cycle of Business Plan 2021 - 2023 and I look forward to sharing it with you all very shortly. I am working with the School Board and staff, to prepare a plan that meets the needs of our school community.

Playground Use After School Trial

As a public school, I more than happy for the use of playgrounds after school as long as students are supervised by their parent or carer.  Students not supervised by their parent/carer should leave school grounds immediately after school. The gates will be locked at 5.00pm. The use of toilets however are not possible due to a tight cleaning schedule. If problems arise, I will need to review this trial.

Caring C Reward Change

This term, we are trialing a new format for the tri weekly rewards. Students will be given a choice to participate in the following clubs:

  • Coding
  • 3D Printing
  • Robotics
  • Performing Arts
  • Art + Craft
  • Sport
  • Constructional Play
  • Library Chill
  • Minecraft Education

I look forward to hopefully seeing you at the Year 2 assembly next Friday 7 May.  Parent attendance will be dependent on the latest COVID restrictions.
