Community Projects

Year 10 has been bustling and busy this term. Students have been assisting with Cross Country events, working in the kitchen, soft landscaping and contributing to general construction and maintenance projects around the school. The School Pride unit they are studying helps them focus on growing their confidence by contributing to our college environment. Great work team!

In the photos, check out Tyler flying our new drone at the Athletics Day and also Velarie and Emily running the canteen (which made $550 for our cafe!). Well done, legends.

City Camp

All year 10 students (VCAL) have been given the opportunity to attend a City Camp on June 8th, 9th and 10th. The camp is totally FREE! All activities, food, public transport and accommodation is included in the cost - thanks to DOXA! This will be a great way to unwind after another tough term and we look forward to the experience. Please get your consent done ASAP.

YEAR 11

This term so far has been all about COMMUNITY PROJECTS! We have students completing projects at Karingal Heights Primary School, Frankston East Primary School, our Project HQ, cafe, salon, the decking by the container, Food Technology, the VCAL Learning Centre and various other locations around the College.

The work has been TERRIFIC!

Keep up the great work, legends!

YEAR 12

Careers Expo

The 2022 VCAL Careers Expo will be held on Thursday May 26th! This will be the FINAL ever VCAL tagged Exp, due to the program being named as VCE Vocational Major from next year onwards. The Senior group have been busy making their display boards and interactive displays for the school community to engage with. We have 200 students per period booked in to attend!

Leadership Day at St Kilda Football Club

The 2022 College Captains spent the day at St Kilda Football Club on Tuesday May 17th, as part of their Leadership Training program. The group took part in workshops on Time Management and Planning for College Events. They heard from the Head of Community Football, Gerard Jess, toured the amazing facilities and even got to watch the Senior Men’s team train and complete mindfulness activities. Great work, team and thank you for your continued impact on the College!

Athletics Day

It was great to send off our Senior group at their final Athletics Day event on Thursday 19th May. There was good attendance from the Senior VCAL cohort and ribbons aplenty at the end of the day! The group worked hard to have the event on a day they could access and made their impact on the day. Great work, team!

It is another busy and dynamic term in VCAL. The best part of this term has been the COMMUNITY PROJECTS running in every corner of the school. IT makes the team very proud to see our students hook in and achieve success in these projects.

On a final note, I would like to publicly acknowledge the great work of the VCAL staff team over the course of this term. This has been a very difficult term to manage (with staff shortages and managing illnesses) and the program has continued to roll on successfully.

Thanks for your continued hard work!
