Food For Thought MAP
Can we let you in on the best kept MAP secret? Have you heard of Food For Thought? If you like cooking, excursions, eating, learning about different cultures and having fun then this is the MAP for you! Every fortnight we cook a different meal ranging from dumplings to pumpkin soup with many ingredients grown lovingly by the Hands on Learning team. In Food for Thought we care about the environment. With all of our veggie and fruit scraps we put them into composting, which is then used by Hands On Learning team to grow fruit and vegetables. We then cooked some pumpkins and enjoyed a delicious hot lunch grown and made on the grounds of McClelland. Some quotes overheard in MAP include. ‘I’ve never had pumpkin soup before; it’s so delicious!’ - Charlee ‘This soup is so good I spilt it on myself!’ - Macy ‘It’s delicious!’ - Ms Tucker ‘Thanks Hands on Learning for these huge pumpkins’ – Anonymous
Every other fortnight we go on a food related excursion. We’ve enjoyed strawberry picking, patting poddy calves and feeding goats at Caldermeade farm, and learning about international food at Springvale Market. Food for Thought is not only super fun, but teaches you life skills and broadens your palette.
