Capital Works Report

It is all happening! We are one step further for both our projects.

Capital Works Program

This week the VSBA Manager, Project Manager and Architects provided an on-site briefing for four construction firms who have been invited to tender for the new building.  They also toured the site to gauge the limitations with the school still operating at the same time.

The tenders are due to close on 7th June.

The final approval meeting with the architect was held this week. The school has approved the final drawings. This project should have been on the tenders list from yesterday.

Facilities Managers Report

Shade Sails around the school are in the process of being removed and stored. The notice boards have not yet been received. The decking around the new middle school building and entries to Room 14 and 15 were resealed during the term break. Blackboards are to be installed around the base of the walkway for students' use.

I recently had a walking meeting with the Urban Diversity Officer for Hume City Council Melissa Do. She has recommended indigenous plants for the front of the school that will encourage birds and lizards. A landscaper Has been contracted to clean up the area and prune and remove trees and plants. Some of the trees and plants are being removed for security and OHS reasons. Rocks will be moved from the area beside the pergola to create bird and lizard habitats near the Jacana School for Autism sign and under the plane tree. Once the works have been finished, I will contact Melissa at Hume City Council about access to indigenous trees and plants in the area. Room 14 has expressed an interest in assisting with the ongoing upkeep of the area.

The maintenance team are continuing to work around the school resolving the issues identified in the Rolling Facilities Evaluation.
