Excellence in Teaching and Learning

Stephanie Di Salvo
Assistant Principal
Dear parents, carers and friends of the school community,
EVERY DAY COUNTS
Daily school attendance is important for young people to succeed in education and to ensure they don’t fall behind both socially and developmentally. Young people who regularly attend school have better health outcomes, better employment outcomes, and higher incomes across their lives.
School helps people to develop important skills, knowledge and values which set them up for further learning and participation in their community.
JSA places great importance on all students being at school on time, every day the school is open for instruction.
We understand that sometimes getting your child to school may be difficult. The school is very happy to work with you to improve your child’s attendance and to discuss our Covid-19 Safe measures.

School Improvement Team Updates
SIT members met on Monday 16th May to monitor and document AIP progress against the five core elements of the Framework for Improving Student Outcomes (FISO) and AIP Activities and Milestones. Team members worked collaboratively, by using specific whole-school data to evaluate the effectiveness and impact of whole-school initiatives and to determine Term 3 actions.
A School Improvement Team Meeting will be held on Monday 23rd May to continue the conversation and to document relevant information and evidence to the Strategic Planning Online Tool (SPOT).
Training for Information Sharing and MARAM Reforms
The Victorian government is progressing 3 interrelated reforms that are integral to reducing family violence and promoting child wellbeing or safety. The 3 reforms are:
- Child Information Sharing Scheme (CISS) - enables authorised organisations and services to share information to promote the well-being and safety of children. Find more information on child information sharing.
- Family Violence Information Sharing Scheme (FVISS) - enables authorised organisations and services to share information to facilitate the assessment and management of family violence risk to children and adults.
- Multi-Agency Risk Assessment and Management Framework (MARAM)- sets out the responsibilities of different workforces in identifying, assessing and managing family violence risk across the family violence and broader service system.
Leadership members and the Welfare Team are currently undertaking training courses specifically designed for education leaders. The training will support the formulation of consistent and collaborative practices of identifying, responding and facilitating violence risk assessment and management.
