Boarding vs Day Student AFL Match

On Wednesday during VACS the Year Eight and Nine students joined in with some House sport while the Year Seven students were at swimming lessons. Students chose from volleyball, football, tennis, soccer, netball or basketball. The highlight of the day was the annual boarders versus day students football game. It was a ripper of a match with the day students holding bragging rights when they won by three points; four goals, four points to four goals, one point for the boarders.

Better players for day students were Peter Darmody, Coco Smargiassi, Vince Bascombe and Will dal Pozzo with Aiden Clarke being named as their best. While for the boarders, better players were Steven Weich, Chloe Wisewould, Kaleb Germain and Blair Ball, with Jed Kowald named as their best. Thanks to Mr Donaldson (Day) and Mr Symonds (Boarders) for coaching and to Mr Louis Stratico for umpiring.

Picnic in the Park

The Year Nine Picnic in the Park was held last Thursday evening at Emu Point. Upon arrival, we were greeted by music, games, a bouncy castle and game of cricket. The weather was in our favour, with warm clear skies and a slight breeze. Families brought picnic blankets, food and chairs and set up on the grass, while the rest of us took advantage of the giant noughts and crosses, Connect Four, Jenga, as well as the bouncy castle which proved to be a highlight.

After everyone had arrived and settled in, the Year Nine contemporary music classes began to set up for their live music show, which included songs like Seven Nation Army, Big Jet Plane, Stitches, Don’t Look Back In Anger and Cyclone among some, who all sounded amazing. Everyone also took advantage of the delicious drinks and ice creams that Emu Point Café had to offer, while we waited for our food to come out. The dinner included fish and chips, burgers, fish tacos and veggie quesadillas, which all looked and tasted amazing. Over all, it was a fun evening and a great way to celebrate the end of Middle School!
