Library News

It has been a great year in the library! Recess and lunchtime have seen an increase in students coming to the library for games, jigsaws and of course reading time. As the end of the school year draws to a close it is important that that all library resources are returned by Tuesday 7 December.

The Albany Town Library has a great Summer Reading Club challenge operating and there are many prizes to be won. This is for all ages 0 to 19. We have flyers here in the library and you will have seen this challenge in the community notices in the past two weeks. The Grand Prize is an android tablet! I hope that over the holidays you can find time to help your child pick out books they’re interested in reading over the break. Children who keep up their reading over the summer break are likely to see improvements in their reading abilities. Remember, you don’t have to be an expert to help your child with reading. By simply interacting with children around books, you can show them that books are important and worthy of our attention.

Thank you to the families who have supported Scholastic Book Club throughout the year. We are most grateful. We wish all GSG families a happy and safe festive season and we look forward to seeing students back in the library in 2022.
