HPS Recorder Program 2022—enrolment applications received

Thank you to those families who have returned completed enrolment application forms for their children.

I will be in touch by email at the start of the new school year (or earlier, if I have queries about specific students’ lesson preferences). Regarding recorder lesson types, what we may be able to offer each student will become clear next year when class allocation and timetabling are known.

If you may be interested in continuing or beginning recorder lessons in 2022, information and enrolment application forms can be downloaded from Compass (>Community >School Documentation—please see link below) or from the School website.

Please return your enrolment application form direct to the tutor as soon as possible, please, so we can try to ensure we will have enough places available next year to accommodate all who wish to learn.

Lessons are due to commence in the first full week of term one, 2022.

Summer Recorder Recital—Monday 6 December and

Ensemble Items Recording—Wednesday 8 December 2021

Heartiest congratulations are due to the recorder players of HPS who performed at the Summer Recorder Recital! Playing outdoors is tough for recorders at the best of times but conditions on Monday were gruelling—hot, so it was very hard to concentrate, and windy so it was extremely difficult to hear and play!

Students had prepared their songs very well but we were about-two-years-out-of-practice in getting ‘on and off stage’, so our program ran very late! This led to Wednesday afternoon’s recording session, graciously organised by Ms Dawson and hosted by the generous HPS School Age Carers, and we extend our sincere thanks to them, as well as to all the terrific teachers of all the recorder students who disappeared from class after lunch to come and play. We are very lucky to be part of a school community such as HPS’s, who show such kind cooperation to facilitate instrumental music

We are also deeply grateful to our live audience, who attended our recital on Monday and patiently and politely waited for us—namely, the Foundation students and teachers, Miss Lindsay-Knape, Miss Galvin, Ms Young and Ms Kelly, and our bonus listeners, Mr Mutimer’s marvellous 3/4 grade.

Fiona’s homework is to prepare the audio recording and slide show of specially created artworks, on the theme of ‘Music is…’. If you haven’t yet emailed me your artwork, it’s not too late—please do send yours in! J

Recorder reports to be delivered by Friday 17.12.2021

Parents/Carers—I aim to email students’ instrumental music (recorder) reports by the last day of school.

Thank you, happy music making and very best wishes for a harmonious holiday season!
