I hope you have all had some time to enjoy the school holidays with family and friends. It has been so lovely seeing students back at school.

Device Charging Cords

Thank you to all those students who are charging their devices overnight and are ready to go for each school day. As charging cords are a trip hazard, we cannot have laptops charging during the school day in classrooms.

OLNA

Provisional OLNA testing dates are the 28th February - 2nd March for Writing and 28th February - 25th March for Reading and Numeracy. Students who are required to sit OLNA will receive a personalised timetable closer to the testing period.

Students still requiring OLNA will be given an online subscription to OLNA Support to build their skills. In addition, students will participate in OLNA workshops targeted at reading, writing and numeracy skills.

Class Staff

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce the Class staff. We have three new members of our team, Mrs Julie Borshoff, Ms Alysia Kepert and Miss Lucia Van Leacey (covering Miss Slocombe for a few weeks). Returning staff members are Miss Georgia Sharpe, Miss Kateland Jury, Mrs Sarah Aynsley, Miss Lizzy Tait, Miss Lola Slocombe (on leave for a few weeks), Mrs Zea Christopherson and myself. Below is a message from each of the Class staff.

Miss Georgia Sharpe

Hi everyone, my name is Georgia Sharpe and I am one of the English teachers here at Cunderdin Ag. I look after the ATAR and General programs within this role. This is my third year at the College and I love the unique environment of our school. I look forward to working with both familiar and new faces in 2022 and hope everyone has a productive and successful year.

Miss Kateland Jury

Hi, my name is Kateland Jury. I’m returning to teach Animal and Plant Production Systems this year at WACoA - Cunderdin. I come from a broadacre farming background, including experience in cropping, cattle and sheep. Upon my graduation from high school, I completed a Bachelor of Agriculture Business Management at Muresk, before doing my teaching degree. From there I have worked at both WACoA – Morawa and WACoA – Cunderdin, and I’m super passionate and pleased to be continuing to teach Ag subjects in our school.

Miss Lizzy Tait

Hi, I’m Lizzy Tait and I teach both Physical Education Studies and English at the College. I started working at WACoA Cunderdin last year and have loved every second of working at an agricultural college. I love to run so you will often see me around town with my dog no matter the weather. I think this year will be interesting and challenging for us all as a community and can’t wait to see what the year holds!

Mrs Julie Borshoff

My name is Julie Borshoff and I live in Northam. I have been teaching primary students at Northam Primary School since 2008. I have just acquired a position at Cunderdin Agricultural College teaching and working with other teachers in Mathematics, for a period of 12 months. I am thrilled to be given this opportunity to work in such a great school and looking forward to meeting and working with students at the secondary level. I have 4 grown children, enjoy working with animals, enjoy reading, thoroughly enjoy learning with young people and have many pets. I am looking forward to an exciting and challenging school year.

Ms Alysia Kepert

I will be teaching the Year 11 Animal Production Systems courses and am really looking forward to working directly with agricultural college students again. I have worked for the Department of Education for nearly 20 years supporting curriculum development, supporting teachers and the WA College of Agriculture system. My favourite time of year on the farm is shearing, and wool is the best fibre in the world!

Mrs Sarah Aynsley

Last year, I had the opportunity to join the Cunderdin Ag staff as a Mathematics Teacher and loved it so much I decided to apply to stay! My family runs a cropping enterprise NE of Beverley; with my love of numbers and science, I have a keen interest in the operations of the farm, particularly financial analysis and grain marketing. This year, I will be teaching Year 12 ATAR Mathematics and Year 12 Plant Production Systems (General). In addition to this, I will be delivering the Drones course in which students can obtain their industry-recognised Remote Pilot Licence (RePL). I recently visited the Drone Shop Perth and saw the new agricultural drones which can fly in swarms of five for targeting crop spraying – it’s so exciting to witness these changes in our industry. I look forward to working with our Year 12 students, learning more about our school farming operations, and being involved in the Cunderdin Ag community.

Mrs Zea Christopherson

I have lived in Cunderdin for 5 years since relocating from the QLD outback with my family. Coming from a background in health care and disability support, I began in Residential at WACoA-Cunderdin before transitioning to an Educational Assistant in 2020. My goal is to provide an inclusive learning environment where students are valued, can challenge and extend themselves, achieve their goals and thrive.

Miss Lucia Van Leacey

Hi, I'm Miss Lulu Van. I've recently moved from Broome to Cunderdin to fill in as an EA. I'm excited to meet everyone and hope this term is fun! In my spare time I enjoy horse riding and going to the beach.

Miss Kelsey Smith

I grew up in the Wheatbelt town of Goomalling where my parents are wheat and sheep farmers. I have taught in Geraldton and Kalgoorlie before coming to WACoA-Cunderdin in 2021 as the Head of Curriculum and a mathematics teacher. I love working at Cunderdin Ag and while this year will bring new challenges, I am looking forward to 2022.
