Students have focused on developing aural, performance and compositional skills in classes from Year  7 to Year 11 in Music.

YEAR 7

Year 7 Music have completed a unit on Film Music analysing the functions of music in various film music repertoire. Students participated in composition activities using the new integrated software program, Noteflight and analysed and applied compositional techniques which created a ‘hit song’ melody.

YEAR 8

Year 8 developed performance skills on guitar and keyboard, playing Rock Music riffs and repertoire individually. Students then recorded a performance and created and presented a video for an assessment using WeVideo.

YEAR 9

Year 9 Music have recently completed performance assessments. These were completed both at school and via video from home. Lots of great performances were submitted on voice, piano, drums and guitar.

YEAR 10

Year 10 Music have engaged in improvisation skills through individual and small group compositions using the minor pentatonic scale in a Rock Music unit. The improvisation was the basis of a composition using Sibelius, in which students transcribed their performed melodies using traditional notation and tablature.

YEAR 12

Year 12 Music students are planning is starting to think about their performance programs next year. We look forward to what they will present next year.
