PRESENTATION LITURGY

On Tuesday 23 November our College celebrated the special contribution of our Presentation Sisters following the Feast of the Presentation of Mary. Year 10 students joined the sisters: Sr Barbara Webber, Sr Nola Fox, Sr Colleen Maloney, Sr Rosemary Terry, Sr Audrey Pigram, Sr Judith Baz, Sr Fran Walsh; Director of Catholic Education Wagga, Mrs Elizabeth O’Carrigan; Chair of our College Council, Mrs Lisa Simpson and Council member Mr Jason Jolley. The remainder of the College livestreamed the Liturgy to classes.

The theme of the Liturgy was ‘Leading the Way’.

Our Presentation Sisters have worked tirelessly, leading the way, bringing to life Nano Nagle’s vision. They have embodied her dream through a variety of ministries, primarily education. We thank our Year 10 students for leading the Liturgy and for their respect, reverence and response throughout.

Nano Nagle’s story is one of passion, devotion and a strong desire to bring about change for those in our world that most need it. Nano Nagle is an inspirational role model with her vision and mission still being very real for us today.

ADVENT

As we prepare for the first Sunday of Advent (this Sunday 28 November) we can reflect on where God is in our lives? How do we find God in the global pandemic, the separations we’ve been through or the waiting for things to be better? When all around us seems dark, how do we learn to see the light again?

Well, at this time every year, as we prepare for the birth of Jesus, we see with new eyes the joy, goodness and love that has been here all along. This Advent, may we let God turn our darkness to light and our sadness to joy. Let us be prepared, and awake enough to recognise God’s presence, who never leaves us.

VINNIES CHRISTMAS HAMPER APPEAL

We began a couple of weeks ago our collections for the 2021 Vinnies Christmas Appeal. We are proud, once again, to be offering our donations to the Kooringal Conference of St Vincent De Paul. Our donations will provide care, support and hope to those who are struggling and having difficulties during what is usually such a festive season.

Please consider donating non-perishable food items; think about the types of food your family enjoys at Christmas and consider donating these. There is also the option to donate a new unwrapped toy for children of all ages.

We are calling on students and families to donate food and gifts to this most valuable cause. Donations can be brought into the front office or to your Homegroup Teacher. We thank those who have already donated to the appeal.

RED WEDNESDAY 24 NOVEMBER 2021

Red Wednesday is an initiative of Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) to remember and pray for those who suffer persecution for their Christian faith. The purpose of Red Wednesday is to join together and raise a strong voice in support of the persecuted who are unable to speak freely, and who look to us to speak on their behalf.

Our College gathered in Homegroups to learn about and pray for those who suffer for their faith around the world. Our RE classrooms also participated in beautiful prayer experiences that were created by our KLA Leader of RE, Mrs Amelia Bright. Students and staff are encouraged to attend a mass sometime during the month of November, to pray for and remember the many people around the world where attending mass is dangerous and sometimes impossible. For more information about Red Wednesday and the work of Aid to the Church in Need, visit www.aidtochurch.org.

VINNIES SEEKING YOUTH VOLUNTEERS

Vinnies Wagga is looking for young people aged between 16 – 35 years old who are enthusiastic, compassionate, and care about social justice to join their youth conference, St Seb’s. Find out more information about becoming a member of St Seb’s here.

PRAYER FOR SUFFERING AND PERSECUTED CHRISTIANS

Lord Jesus Christ, as the Good Shepherd,

You gave Your life for all.

You have personally called each of us to serve

suffering and persecuted Christians.

Strengthen them to persevere in faith, and fill

their hearts with joy in suffering for You.

Grant us too, the courage and willingness

to sacrifice, that we can aid and console our

brothers and sisters.

Fill us all with Your merciful love for one another.

Teach us to bless our enemies and to forgive

those who hate us.

May we always stand in solidarity, at the foot of

the cross, with our blessed Mother.

Amen.
